I am a director and teaching artist based in Philadelphia since autumn of 2011. Welcome to these pages, where I share a bit about myself and my work.
Theatre is my favorite way of learning about the world. It’s a preference I was fortunate to develop as a young person through early and frequent exposure to the arts; these are now the opportunities I hope to cultivate for others as both an artist and educator. I have always thought theatre-making is inherently educational; the curiosity, analysis, empathy, imagination and nuanced articulation of the artistic process are tools that we all – non-artists and artists alike – can use to help make sense of our world. I always hope to galvanize artists, colleagues, and institutions to share our creative process whenever and however we can, and to galvanize community to come to the theatre asking more of us than only entertainment. I believe the audience, the artists, and the art itself are served by the effort.
